Community Food Basket Purchases New Location

The Community Food Basket is pleased to announce the purchase of a new, 10,500 sq. foot facility, located at 725 Fulton St. Ottawa, IL. The new location is conveniently located just west of downtown and will allow the organization to continue their mission of feeding those in need.

Executive Director, Marissa Vicich said, “I, along with the Community Food Basket’s Board of Directors, have been diligently searching for a new home for our organization over the last year. It was important to us that the new location keeps us in the downtown area and near to our clients who regularly walk and bike to see us. This milestone of building ownership is a testament to the support of our community for the work we have been doing for our neighbors over the last 25+ years. We could not do it without the individuals, organizations and local governments that have put their trust in us to provide excellent services.”

This purchase was made possible, in part, through the LaSalle County Board’s award of $500,000 of American Rescue Plan funds toward this project. The CFB will be partnering with the Illinois Valley Labor Unions to perform renovations over the next months. The Community Food Basket’s timeline for moving operations to this facility will be announced at a later date. Until that time, the CFB remains open at their 519 W. Madison St. (south entrance) facility for regular business hours on Monday-Tuesday from 9:00 AM – Noon and Wednesday-Thursday 3:00 – 6:00 PM.

Naming rights and sponsorship opportunities for the new facility and associated equipment will be forthcoming. Donations can be made at any time at www.ottawafoodbasket.org/donate or by mailing a check to Community Food Basket PO Box 2386 Ottawa, IL 61350.
