Over the years, the Community Food Basket has continuously evolved to meet growing needs: adding mobile pantries, expanding distribution hours into evenings, and launching our Second Helpings program to provide extra food to families with children.
In 2020, we've changed once again. But this year is different and we’re serving up something new: DIGNITY.
In addition to our unending quest to bring food to hungry families, we’ve changed our food distribution model to Client Choice in 2020. This exciting shift empowers our clients to choose the food that’s best for their families while reducing waste. Pantry users now have a shopping experience similar to a grocery store.
Client Choice distribution is considered the best practice in the hunger relief community because it offers the food that is most useful to our clients in a dignified and empowering way. We know that to close the meal gap and achieve Zero Hunger in our community we must make our service accessible, useful and welcoming to those who are in need.
