Ways to Give
Whether you are able to donate food, contribute financially, or volunteer your time, we at the Community Food Basket greatly appreciates your generosity!
Community Food Basket accepts donations of unexpired canned or dry goods, frozen food, and fresh produce. Drop-offs can be made Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and noon and Thursdays from 2-5 p.m. If you have a larger amount and would like to arrange a pick up you can contact us at 815-431-0155 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Plant A Row For the Hungry
Plant a Row is a national initiative that encourages gardeners to donate fresh produce to food pantries in their local communities. Community Food Basket has received food from local gardeners through this program for 15 years and in 2016 11,867 lbs of produce was donated and distributed to our community!
If you garden, please consider "planting a row" for us!
Since 2015 Community Food Basket has challenged local church congregations to a friendly competition to fill our shelves with nutritious, kid friendly supplies to support our annual Second Helpings initiative - providing an extra box each month to families with school age children.
While we welcome and appreciate ALL donations, monetary gifts provide us with the most flexibility. We are able to purchase those items that we need, when they are needed. It gives us the ability to augment our fresh produce and perishable products when required; and when we buy through River Bend Foodbank the money goes a great deal further than at the retail grocery store. A recent delivery included 7002 lbs of both purchased and donated food for $240.76!
Our EIN is 36-4289533. Please contact us at if you have further questions.
