Kohl’s gifts $8 million to nonprofits nationwide, including a Kohl’s Cares(R) grant of $100,000 for health and wellness of Ottawa-area families
Ottawa, IL, 03/01/2021 — The Community Food Basket of Ottawa announced today a $100,000 grant from Kohl’s A Community with Heart Program to help provide hunger-relief in LaSalle County. The funds will be used for facility upgrades and to expand the organization’s capacity to better serve the community.
“This donation is simply life changing for our organization,” said Marissa Vicich, Executive Director of the Community Food Basket. I often say that each donation we receive is vote of confidence in the work that we do, and it is clear that Kohl’s and their employees have placed so much trust in us. We do not take that responsibility lightly.”
Embracing the Spirit of the Season by Giving Back to Communities
Kohl’s grant to the Community Food Basket was made through Kohl’s A Community with Heart Program. In the spirit of giving with all of its heart this holiday season, Kohl’s, through its A Community with Heart Program, will donate $8 million in grants to selected nonprofit organizations across the country, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to family health and wellness. Kohl’s store teams and leaders across the country identified and nominated nonprofit recipients from 49 states that are near and dear to their hearts. The donations are made possible through Kohl’s philanthropic merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares®, which sells children’s books and toys and donates 100 percent of the net profit to charitable organizations across the country that improve the health and wellness of families.
